Stapleford Park Country House Hotel & Sporting Estate reopens after Multi million pound Refurbishment
Stapleford Park Country House Hotel & Sporting Estate, in sunny Leicestershire reopened just before Easter following completion of the first phase of a multi million pound development.
During the hotel’s closure interior designer Russell Sage has artfully revitalized the heritage of Stapleford Park, whilst simultaneously injecting a spirit of modernism, creating a timeless atmosphere for the property. Sage is best known for his work with LVMH’s Hine House as well as Goodwood Estate and the National Gallery.
The Marble Hallway at Stapleford Park has been painted a deep red and has been hung with the many Stapleford coats of arms of the families who married into the Sherard family - the original habitants during the 15th century, all painted by the craftsmen who carried out the great hall restoration of Windsor Castle after the fire in 1992.
Meanwhile, The Harborough Room is hung with the most opulent Gainsborough silk and the walls seem to whisper the history and tradition of the oldest fabric house in England, most famous for adorning the walls of palaces and great houses. The room also serves as a perfect foil for The Grand Hall, which has been elegantly decorated with overtones of duck egg blue and burnished gold – making the most of the size and grandeur of the space.
A surprise awaits guests in The Old Kitchen, which has been lit in a soft pink spotlight. This is juxtaposed against a ceiling, which has been skilfully decorated with hundreds of antlers, – creating a hunter’s lodge atmosphere – which harks back to the history that lives within the walls of the property. The Main Kitchen, untouched since 1988, has also been completely renovated and equipped with the latest technology to further liberate the culinary talents of our Head Chef.
The sporting theme that began in the Old Kitchen is continued in The Saloon, where various trophies are displayed charting the wins and the losses over the centuries.
Antique oil paintings hang from The Library walls – but hold an amusing secret! Each one has been uniquely over-painted with portraits of the current Host’s dogs and cats heads - testament to the fact that Stapleford Park has and always will be a place where pets are a welcome addition.
Stapleford Park has also forged a prestigious relationship with esteemed wallpaper and fabric design house Osborne & Little, as well as design houses Lorca and Nina Campbell, to create three sumptuous bedroom suites located in Stapleford Park’s Archway.
Each of the three rooms is decked in the most exquisite colours and textures that reflect the style of all three design houses and complement Stapleford Park perfectly.
- History and modernity meet in the Osborne & Little Suite, which has been designed using their very latest silk collection, comprising embroideries and stripes in decadent colours, along with an example of Osborne & Little’s very first wallpaper design.
- If flamboyance is more your scene – then the Lorca Manor Room, which becomes a suite with interconnecting doors to the Osborne & Little Suite, is perfect. There is a symphony of bejewelled and ostentatious colour and scale, which is a signature of this design house and adds a sense of drama to the scape.
- One of the most popular suites back in the heady days was The Nina Campbell suite. A new take on the opulence of Nina Campbell’s signature colours and fabrics is welcomed back to the house using the Portavo design - a scheme encompassing rich gilded reds and aquas to create a full blooded yet delicate design aura.
